Solifugids are known under many names: camel spiders, solifuges, solpugids, sun spiders, wind spiders .....
They are not dangerous to humans, although if harassed they can bite opening a wound prone to infection. They are fantastic little characters, hairy and running very fast (apparently 30 km/h). With the two eyes they can see pretty well. They have very powerful chelicerae able to cut hair, skin, feathers, small bones.
Solifugids are active hunters and extremely difficult to photograph due to their speed and constant movement. This funny character decided to cooperate for few moments on my table before running into the night.

Dear Neal, Than you for featuring several of my pictures. And yes, would it be nice if solifugids were 2 m long? Next creature for a horror film. Luckily they are small - from few milimetres to a couple of centimetres.
