Most of the tourists visiting Botswana want to see lions. Some of them miss so much in the bush because they only look for the big things, especially lions. I always tell people, if you want to find them don't look for them but enjoy the whole bush, all other equally interesting creatures, large and small. - And if you do so, you will be rewarded - You will see lions as well. They are just part of the whole fantastic creation. ... We were finishing our safari, my friends wanted to see lions. I tried to show them everything else. We were on the way to the gate of the National Park. Suddenly I saw some brownish spot in the grass of the valley, perhaps 300 m away. I knew what it was. I drove down on a road leading to that spot. Surely enough - five lions had their siesta. My friends were so excited and happy; the lions were just 3 m from the road. For the last 27 years I have been living and working in Botswana, Africa. Since my school years I was always interested in taking pictures or filming, especially related to nature. Today most of my images document the incredible wilderness and wildlife of Botswana. I have been documenting the traditional life and the culture of the People of Botswana as well, especially the San and Hambukushu People. I like to experiment with HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography (but not overdoing it, mostly for the sake of improving the image; and with macro of small creatures.
